We are on the pump now!

This week has been an interesting one. Monday, my DH started on his insulin pump and immediately his blood sugars dropped drastically! We had to worry that he was getting too low fir the first time in years! We are still learning our way around it and tomorrow brings our first change of the "pod". Hopefully we will do OK on that.

We go to the third court hearing on the carjacking at the end of this month. It will be good to get this whole mess over with but I'm still hoping the kids that did this to DH will not just get a slap on the wrist and get some severe punishment that they richly deserve!

I've not had time to stitch at all. I've managed to read just a little. There is one movie I want to see.......The Time Traveler's Wife. I'm a hopeless romatic.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Ever just want to SCREAM ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been a week from "you know where"! Last Thursday, my DH was carjacked at gunpoint on his way home from work. Fortunately we got the car back quickly and DH was not hurt. The people that did this, tossed everything from the car in less than 30 mins..........everything! DH's insulin, medications, owner's manual on the car, maintenance papers and coupons on the car, owner's papers on the car, even the dog crate and pad out of the back of the car! Thanks to ONSTAR, we got the car back in about 30 mins from when they stole it from him. The car thieves were caught too! You would think that was enough but then we get the bad news that the auto policy won't cover it and you have to file it on your home owner's policy (which has the higher deductible of course!). The DA tells us the Victim's Compensation Fund probably won't pay a dime out and we would have to take the thieve's families to civil court for damages!

On top of that, because of the budget crisis, GA tuition went up on Ben's current semester by an additional $377. He's still waiting for his original financial aid to come in so we had to help him out on that end as well. Then add in the cost of books!!!!

Now add on top of that the car seems to be losing gas awful fast and we think we have a hole in the gas tank............no...........our fuel gauge had gone bad. The car does need a front end alignment but it also needs new tires and that will have to wait until the tuition bill is paid back.

Add to that a root canal that did not work on Thursday last week decided to act up on Friday afternoon and put me in bed with Percocet every few hours all weekend! Then Monday morning you drag your groggy behind to the dentist and guess what............you get to have oral surgery and the offending tooth removed. Oh Joy! Now I feel like I've had a boxing match with Godzilla and I LOST!!!!!

Monday, DH goes to court for the carjacking and let's just say, it is amazing how much denial some folks can be in when the thief was caught red handed! Monday afternooon, we find out that the doctors really think DH has to go on an insulin pump. Health insurance tells us when we asked about it, that they rarely approve them but the doctor says he gets them approved all the time for patients like DH. Pump therapy is extremely expensive.......cost of pump can be over $6000 and the monthly tab can run $300 to keep it going.

Now if all that wasn't enough, earlier our bank notified us that someone was trying to use my debit card number to purchase gas in CALIFORNIA!!!!! I'm in GEORGIA!!!!! The bank calls me on my cell and says, we need to destroy that card and issue you a new one. OK, inconvenient but glad they were watching. Now..........we are finding our auto draft bills are being declined yet there is money in our bank account.

Oh.........don't forget work has been interesting too............we moved the entire lab I work in to another area and we are packed in there like sardines! I'm waiting to see what OSHA says when they come inspect. I'll be very surprised if OSHA doesn't have some issues with the cramped working conditions.

This is enough to drive a girl to drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Making progress........slowly

Well, despite having a horrendous two weeks at work, I've managed to make some progress on my Heroes project! Maybe tonight I will get some more done! Bailey keeps trying to be a lap dog while I'm stitching. That 55 pound "lap dog" doesn't understand why she can't come be in my lap while I'm stitching! She also wants to steal my floss........bobbin and all!!!!!!!!!!!
Ben tried to change his class schedule today and is still trying to get the Humanities class he wants and that fits best in his schedule. He's working for a new swim team now and should have a better schedule and more reliable paycheck. Hopefully, he will be done with college in about 2.5 yrs.

Ben loves to pick Bailey up and I think she likes being picked up and cuddled like a baby. Talk about being spoiled! This dog is going to miss this boy when he moves out on his own! Is this love or what!

Busy, busy week!

We moved the blood gas lab where I work and that was no easy fete with interfaced instruments in two operating rooms, the specialized care center lab and trauma unit. But we managed to do it and survive. We are crammed in like sardines in our new work space but it is what it is.

I managed to stitch a little since my last post. I'm making more progress on my hero's project. I was able to locate the family the project will go to when done and framed. I'm trying to find more time to stitch each week.

DH and I went to Lowe's last week and got a bunch of flowers for the yard. We got most of them out in the flower beds. There are 4 more to plant but they were purchased as "distressed" flowers so they are recovering from abuse in our garage. Shade plants do not do well in the Augusta, GA Summer Sun!!!!!!! We had to put up more temporary fencing to keep the dog from digging up what we planted but she will eventually outgrow that habit. While working in
the yard, a gorgeous butterfly came to visit our
yard. We managed to get a photo of her.

Ben is trying to sell his scooter to help pay for his tuition and fees at college this term. He won the scooter in a contest and can't really ride it around here. We are hoping he gets a good price for it on ebay. Know anyone who wants a scooter?

Not a lot going on besides that. Hope you have a great week.

No fun at all!!!!!!!!

I saw the dentist yesterday for a toothache that would not go away after 4 days and multiple ibuprofen. We thought we might get away with just an adjustment to my bite but NO..............woke up at 3AM with my mouth just throbbing! Finally got out the big guns in pain killers and took one. Went back to the dentist today and we are now looking at possibly another root canal! This is NOT FAIR!!!!!!! I've had more than my share already!

On the good side, I have gotten to stitch a little in the last week and have made some progress on my hero's project. Guess I should be glad for that.

Fair Winds and Following Seas to a dear friend

This past week a dear friend of the family was tragically killed in a car wreck. He was a good man and will be greatly missed. I was not able to go to the funeral but my husband attended for our family since I had to work. Lindon was a sweet man that would do just about anything to help you if he could. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and take comfort in knowing that if you have accepted Jesus Christ into your life, you will see your father again in Heaven. He's no longer having to deal with this world's stresses and is at peace with our Lord.

God Bless

Annie & Carly have been adopted!

Both Annie and Carly have been adopted! We are glad they went to stable homes. Annie was adopted this past Saturday to a family where the dad is an officer in the military and they have a 2 yr old son. Now we just have our Bailey and she is staying with us. Maybe someday in the future we might get another golden but we are going to wait to see on this one.
